Born in Ängelholm, Maria Jane Smith is a Swedish songwriter and singer. In 2014, Smith collaborated with Molly Sandén and was one of the songwriters for the single Freak, which sold platinum in Sweden and also won the Swedish Song of the Year category at the QX-Galan 2015. Smith is also a singer in the duo Smith & Thell, who have released the song Forgive me friend, which has reached over a hundred million plays on Spotify to date.
